If I tell you I can walk into a showroom turn in my Lexus RX 300 for 450, use it for 1 month then switch to RX350. Would you believe me?
That is what subscription is.
I can use any car, downgrade or upgrade at any time while enjoying the pecks of the latest releases of any model I choose.
Whether you like it or not, subscription services are here to stay. I am sure everyone reading this right now has one cable service or the other, be it DSTV, GoTV, Startimes or an alternative.
Subscription is enjoying the latest version for the fraction of a full price, forever.
That same model is getting applied to software. You get access to the latest version all the time. Accounting software, project management, graphics design, video editing, CRM, HR, Data Analytics, Productivity apps, you name it, even Microsoft Office you know has monthly subscriptions. Gone are the days when you can purchase pirated versions. There are no CDs anymore. You either install online or use on the web. Access is tied to an account, mostly an email address or a License key that is again activated online.
If the software you are using isn’t tied to any account, you are missing out on a lot.
Subscribers get latest versions which makes work easier. You get to choose. Why get stuck with driving a 2007 Camry when for the cost of a pizza, I can get a 2021 Range Rover Evoque?
This is the new norm.
